Prime Minister Narendra Modi commented on India's position on the Russia-Ukraine war, stating that India's position is well known and well understood in the entire world.

The Prime Minister made these remarks in an interview with the US-based publication Wall Street Journal before his departure for the United States. His visit, scheduled from 21 June to 24 June, is aimed to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations

Regarding the Ukraine conflict, PM Modi clarified, "When it comes to the Ukraine conflict, some people say that we are neutral. But we are not neutral. Emphasizing India's commitment to peace," he added, "We are on the side of peace."

Prime Minister Modi addressing criticism of India's position on the Russia-Ukraine war said, "I don't think this perception is widespread in the US. I think India’s position is well known and well understood in the entire world."

"The world has full confidence that India’s topmost priority is peace," PM Modi said.

Highlighting the importance of dialogue and adherence to international law, he said, "All countries should respect international law and the sovereignty of countries. Disputes should be resolved with 'diplomacy and dialogue', not war."

In light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, which began on 24 February last year and continues with no signs of abating, Prime Minister Modi's emphasis on the importance of dialogue and adherence to international law becomes even more relevant.

As the conflict has taken a devastating toll on both sides, resulting in numerous casualties and significant destruction, the need for peaceful resolution has become increasingly urgent.

Despite efforts to reach a peaceful settlement, the war persists, posing challenges to finding a resolution.
