Another encounter broke out on Friday (17 November) between militants and a joint team of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, following the killing of five terrorists in a two-day encounter in Kulgam.

According to reports, one terrorists were killed in the encounter, while two to three terrorists are reportedly trapped in the area.

The exchange of fire occurred in the morning during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) conducted by a joint team of the army, police, and CRPF in the Guller-Behrote area of Budhal tehsil.

The operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs about suspicious movements in the region.

In the ensuing gun battle, one terrorist was confirmed killed, said a senior officer. The encounter is currently ongoing, stated the officer, indicating that the situation is still active.

This operation started as the two-day operation in Kulgam district that resulted in the elimination of five Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists came to a close.

Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Damhal Hanji Pora area of Kulgam, yesterday (on 16 November), following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The operation turned into a gunbattle when terrorists opened fire on the security personnel. After a night-long lull, gunshots were exchanged early on Friday (17 November) morning in the Nehama area of Kulgam, specifically at Samno, according to officials, following the five LeT terrorists were killed.
