J&K: Two Terrorists Gunned Down In A Counter-Terror Operation In Rajouri; Another Encounter Underway In South Kashmir's Anantnag

In a tense confrontation between concealed militants and security forces, a skirmish erupted in South Kashmir's Anantnag district today (13 September).

Simultaneously, during the ongoing anti-militancy operation in Rajouri, security forces eliminated yet another militant, bringing the total tally to two.

A spokesperson for the police disclosed that two personnel from the Army and one from the Jammu and Kashmir Police sustained injuries in the Anantnag encounter.

However, further details regarding the condition of the injured individuals or their identities were not disclosed.

Preliminary reports indicate that security forces, consisting of Indian Army and police units, surrounded two to three militants who were believed to be in hiding in the Gadool hamlet of Anantnag's Kokernag area.

This development followed a tip-off received by the security forces. As the joint team commenced a search operation, the hidden militants opened fire, engaging the security forces in the encounter, officials reported.

In the Rajouri region of Jammu, security forces eliminated another militant today (13 September) in the Narla area, after an encounter had commenced on Tuesday (12 September).

Officials noted that the encounter site echoed with renewed gunfire today morning, indicating that the operation was still ongoing in the area.

Thus far, the operation has resulted in the elimination of two militants, with one soldier losing his life during the encounter. Additionally, three security personnel sustained injuries.

The Army identified the fallen soldier as Rifleman Ravi and paid tribute to his unwavering dedication and service to the nation.

In addition to Rifleman Ravi, an Army dog named Kent from the 21 Army Dog Unit also lost her life during the ongoing operation in Rajouri.

The six year old female Labrador was leading a column of soldiers on the trail of fleeing terrorists. The canine came down under heavy hostile fire and laid down her life while shielding her handler.
