Ongoing Encounter In Rajouri District Of J&K Claims Lives of Four Including Two Army Officers And Two Jawans: What We Know So Far

Four Army personnel, including two officers and two jawans have been killed in an encounter in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

Here is what we know so far about the ongoing encounter.

The encounter started in the Bajimaal forest area of the border district Rajouri, following intelligence inputs of the presence of terrorists in the area.

A cordon-and-search operation (CASO) was launched by the security forces comprising the army, Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP).

Upon launching the search operation, the heavily-armed terrorists fired on the joint search party of the security forces, in which the two officers along with two soldiers from the 9 Para SF, lost their lives.

The officer belonged to the 63 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) while the remaining three belonged to the 9 Para SF.

One terrorist was killed in the ensuing gunfight. However, the forces are unable to retrieve the body of the killed terrorist due to the heavy gunfire from the terrorist.

According to JKP, two more terrorists are hiding in the dense forest.
