Adani Airports Soar: One Million Tonnes Of Cargo Handled In FY 2024, Capturing 30 Per Cent Market Share

Adani-group-operated airports handled one million tonnes of cargo in the fiscal year 2023-2024, marking a significant 7 per cent year-on-year increase from the previous fiscal, when the total cargo tonnage was 944,912 metric tonnes.

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), the group's aviation arm, managed 1,013,115 metric tonnes of cargo in FY 2024, capturing an impressive 30.1 per cent market share.

Approximately 65 per cent of the total cargo handled was international, with this segment growing by 9 percent year-on-year. The cargo operations were driven by a variety of commodities, including automobiles, pharmaceuticals, perishables, electricals/electronics, and engineering goods.

Major international destinations for cargo included Germany, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Adani Airports, which operates the largest network of airports in India, currently handles around 23 per cent of passenger movements and approximately 33 per cent of air cargo traffic across India through its seven operational airports.

It holds concession agreements with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for a 50-year period, starting from the respective commercial operation dates, for the operation, management, and development of six airports —Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram.

The group has also acquired the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), along with the development rights for a greenfield airport in Navi Mumbai, for a period of 30 years with an option to extend by another 30 years.

The company has commissioned cargo facilities at the Mangaluru, Guwahati, and Jaipur airports, ensuring that all Adani-operated airports are equipped for cargo handling.
