Bengaluru: A Month After CM Bommai Announced 37 km Sarjapur To Hebbal Metro Line, BMRCL Invites DPR Bids

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) on Monday (Apr 11) invited tenders to appoint a consultant to create a Detailed Project Report for Namma Metro’s Phase 3‘s proposed 37 km Hebbal – Sarjapur metro line.

The tender notices comes just a month after Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai made the announced the construction of a 37-km metro line between Sarjapur and Hebbal through Agara, Koramangala and Dairy Circle at a cost of ₹15,000 crore. The CM announced his plan for the line during his government’s maiden budget for the year 2022-23 in the Karnataka Assembly on March 4.

The scope of the contract includes the preparation of a detailed Project Report (DPR) for Metro Rail Corridor of length 37 km connecting Sarjapur to Hebbal via Agra, Koramangala and Dairy Circle.

The contracting firm selected for DPR will provide a baseline of the line’s length, underground & elevated route composition, number of stations, their locations, depot, coach requirement, ridership projection, operational game plan, total cost etc. The DPR preparation is expected to be complete in 8 months.

During his budget speech, the CM said in that year 2022-23, 33 km of metro line will be added. With this Namma Metro will have a total 89 km line.

The CM said that work on constructing 58.19 km long metro line connecting Central Silk Board with Kempegowda International Airport is fully underway and this will be completed by March, 2025.

Over 115 km of metro network is currently under construction in Bengaluru. The city has an existing metro network covering about 55 km. DPR preparation is set to begin for over 70 km of 2 new lines.

The CM also said that the detailed project report (DPR) to take up Phase-3 of Bengaluru Metro project at an estimated cost of ₹11,250 crore will be submitted to Central Government for approval. This covers a distance of 32 km along the outer ring road from Hebbal to J.P. Nagar and 13 km between Hosahalli to Kadabagere.
