  • Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has taken a crucial step to increase the speed of Bengaluru Metro to Whitefield Kadugodi station. To achieve this, it has decided to extend the tracks beyond the station by 500 metre.

According to Anjum Parwez, the Managing Director of BMRCL, this extension will reduce the travel time between Hopefarm Channasandra Metro Station to Kadugodi from 4.5 minutes to mere 1.5 minutes.

After a recent BMRCL board meeting, the MD confirmed, that currently only one platform of Kadugodi Station is in use.

Due to the trains' inability to turn at the station, the engine is reversed, and the same platform is utilised. This raised concerns, which are now being addressed by the recent extension of tracks beyond the station.

The extension is set to alleviate any problems caused by the trains' inability to turn at Kadugodi Station.

The new solution involves taking a turn from the left, just before the railway line, which allows the train to enter the parallel track. The BMRCL board recently approved this measure, and it is expected to improve train services significantly.

The extension of the tracks beyond Kadugodi Station will ensure much faster travel for all trains departing from K R Puram to Whitefield Kadugodi.

This development will not only provide more efficient service but will also reduce commuting time for many passengers.

According to an official, both the platforms at Kadugodi can now be utilised to provide better service to commuters.

The move will reduce travel time on one journey by approximately three minutes, which is substantially time-saving.

As part of BMRCL's long-term plans, a Metro official said that this will allow trains to run within a 2-3 minute frequency during peak hours.

This will be possible because the extension of tracks after Channasandra will enable trains to maintain a regular speed and ensure better service.

Metro officials also stated that the K R Puram to Baiyappanahalli stretch will be operational by the July-end.
