Marking a significant milestone in Madhya Pradesh's aviation infrastructure, the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Terminal at Gwalior Airport has officially commenced operations.
Welcoming its inaugural flight from New Delhi, the state-of-the-art terminal, constructed with Rs 500 crore, embodies the city's commitment to enhancing airport facilities and passenger convenience.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) celebrated the occasion, highlighting the proactive efforts undertaken to establish the environment-friendly terminal in record time.
With the region experiencing a surge in passenger traffic, the new terminal, spanning 20,000 sq m, is poised to accommodate growing demands while prioritising sustainability. Equipped with modern amenities and designed for reduced carbon footprint, the terminal promises passengers a seamless and comfortable travel experience, reports Financial Express.
“It marks a momentous occasion and a remarkable achievement for Gwalior,” stated Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, anticipating a surge in passenger traffic as several flights already witness promising numbers.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation for the new terminal building and expansion of the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Airport on 16 October 2022.
It is to be noted here that Madhav Rao Scindia, father of Jyotiraditya Scindia, had laid the foundation stone of Gwalior Airport 37 years ago.
