Karnataka Tops List Of States With Grid Interactive Renewable Power Capacity, Says RBI Report

Karnataka tops the list of states with installed grid-interactive renewable power capacity in the country.

Renewable power includes power from various sources including bio-power, solar power, small hydro power, waste to energy and wind power.

As per the Handbook of Statistics released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 19 November, Karnataka stands first among states with a total capacity of 15,463 mega watts (MW).

Tamil Nadu comes a close second with 15,225 MW, while Gujarat stands third at 13,153 MW.

While in 2014, Karnataka‘s capacity was 3,985 MW, Tamil Nadu stood at 8,070 MW and Maharashtra at 5,630 MW.

Maharashtra as per the latest report stands fourth in the country at 10,267 MW. Rajasthan comes a close fifth with 10,205 MW. It had a capacity of 3,640 MW in 2014.

The Handbook of Statistics is an annual publication that has been brought by the RBI since 2016. This data has been sourced, as per the RBI report, from Energy Statistics of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
