Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to announce the launch of Vande Bharat trains in Kerala during his visit to the state on 25 April.
According to a report in Mathrubhumi, the Vande Bharat train services will operate between Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur.
However, concerns have been raised about the incomplete maintenance work required to run the trains in the state, the report says, adding that the upgrades to railway tracks and signal systems are needed before the Vande Bharat trains can operate in the statee.
The repair work is expected to be completed in the next two weeks.
The Integral Coach Factory in Perambur has finished manufacturing three rakes, each consisting of eight coaches for the Vande Bharat trains.
Meanwhile, the Integral Coach Factory in Tamil Nadu's Perambur has completed the manufacture of three rakes consisting of eight coaches each for the Vande Bharat trains, the report said, adding, "Around four to five rakes are manufactured here every month."
