The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has approved a budget of Rs 48.62 crore to ensure connectivity between the Noida International Airport (NIA) and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
This budget will be used to complete the DND-Faridabad-Ballabgarh Bypass Link Road — a 31-km road that will connect the airport with Ballabgarh in Haryana.
The state government's approval of this extra sum addresses the variation in land valuation for the project, effectively removing the hurdle and allowing the project to proceed.
"The difference in land valuation for the DND-Faridabad-Ballabgarh Bypass Link Road, connecting the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Jewar Airport, has been determined at Rs 3,100 per square metre. The state government has approved an additional Rs 48.6 crore in view of the provision made for the difference in the re-fixed rate for land (required for) the project,” as per a Times of India report.
The proposal was put up before the state government and on 12 August, a government spokesperson announced that the last tranche of funds required for the project had been sanctioned.
The Gautam Budh Nagar district administration acquired 64 acres of private land for the project. More than Rs 250 crore has been distributed as compensation to the land owners subsequently.
However, an increased amount was required later to take over the land in Dayanatpur, Karauli Bangar, Amarpur among other villages.
This link road will serve as a connection between the upcoming NIA and Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, along with Haryana regions, through the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is going to construct an interchange at the 30 km milestone on the Yamuna Expressway (from Greater Noida end) to facilitate the movement of vehicles between the two expressways.
As per officials from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the upcoming connection will further facilitate travel to Jaipur or Haryana and provide greater convenience for utilising the Yamuna Expressway.
The NHAI had earlier stated that the connection would be ready within a year of commencing work, coinciding with the expected operational date of the airport project in September 2024.
As per NIAL officials, the airport is situated adjacent to the Yamuna Expressway, at a distance of 700 metre from the expressway, for which the authority has already proposed an elevated direct interchange to facility.
The airport's connectivity to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and with the wider expressway network in Uttar Pradesh is aimed to offer strategic benefits for the facility's future growth and utilisation.
