Mumbai Metro Line 12: Three Firms In Fray To Develop 20Km Kalyan-Taloja Route

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is likely to choose from three firms for the civil construction work of much-awaited Metro Line 12.

The firms that have submitted their bids for the project are Gawar Constructions, J Kumar Infraprojects and Welspun Enterprises, reports the MetroRailGuy.

The Metro Line 12, which will run between Kalyan and Taloja, is a 20-km-long fully elevated metro corridor with 19 stations.

The stations covered are Klayan, APMC Kalyan, Ganesh Nagar, Pisavali Gaon, Golavali, Dombivali MIDC, Sagaon, Sonarpada, Manpada, , Hedutane, Kolegaon, Nilje Gaon, Vadavali, Bale, Vaklan, Turbhe, Pisarve Depot, Pisarve, and Amandoot (Taloja).

It was in December 2023 that the MMRDA had invited tenders worth Rs 1,877 crore for part-design and construction of the elevated viaduct and 19 stations, with a completion time of 30 months.

As part of plan to create an inter-connected network, the Kalyan Taloja Metro Line 12 is set to feature interchange stations with Metro Line 5 at APMC Kalyan, as well as with Navi Mumbai Metro Line 01 at Taloja.

The Rs 8,416 crore Metro Line-5, spanning 24.9 kilometres and linking Thane to Kalyan through Bhiwandi, comprises a 15-station elevated corridor. Presently under construction, it is anticipated to commence commercial operations by 2025.

The Metro 12 project, with a total cost of Rs 5,494 crore, is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The anticipated completion date for the project is October 2025.

Upon its completion, Metro Line 12 will establish direct connectivity between Kalyan-Dombivali, Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
