The elevated Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7 have recorded a combined ridership of 100 million since their inception.
According to Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), responsible for the operation and maintenance of these metro lines, the ridership mark of 100-million indicates the growing acceptance of these services, which are now two years old.
In January 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated two Mumbai Metro lines, line 2A and line 7.
Mumbai Metro Line 2A connects Dahisar East to DN Nagar in Andheri West and is an 18.6 km-long elevated corridor with 17 stations; it connects Western, Central, and Northern suburban Mumbai.
The Line 7 corridor from Andheri to Dahisar has a 16.5-km fully elevated stretch running along the Western Express Highway covering 13 stations — Gundavali, Mogra, Jogeshwari (East), Goregaon (East), Aarey, Dindoshi, Kurar, Akurli, Poisar, Magathane, Devipada, Rashtriya Udyan, and Ovaripada.
Together, these two lines constitute a 35-km long elevated corridor stretching from Dahisar to Andheri forming a horseshoe ring route, linking the east and west sides of the city, passing through Link Road and Western Express Highway.
