After 51 hours of continuous restoration work at the accident site in Balasore at Odisha, the affected main line was restored in a record time amid the constant monitoring of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on the spot.

The first train, a freight train carrying coal from Vizag port, headed towards Rourkela Steel Plant on the restored track amid the enthusiastic crowd.

Vaishnaw along with Chairman of Railway Board and other senior officials had camped at the site since Saturday (3 June) morning.

The Railway Minister thanked the workers involved in the restoration operation.

The accident had uprooted the rail line and destroyed the overhead electric connectivity badly. However, the strong determination and the resolve of the Minister saw to it that the affected line was restored in record time enabling trains to operate.
