PM Narendra Modi inaugurates the extension of Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 to a new metro station ‘Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25’.

On his 73rd birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line.

He took a ride on the Delhi Metro, interacting with metro employees and commuters along the way.

The new metro station, 'Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25', was added to the line, connecting it to Dwarka Sector 21.

PM Modi also inaugurated the first phase of Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), in Dwarka.

Currently, the Airport Express line operates until Dwarka Sector 21, which is the interchange point with Delhi Metro's Blue Line.

The newly opened station at Dwarka Sector 25 will provide metro connectivity to residents in the surrounding areas and the new sectors along the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram.

With the addition of this new section, Delhi Metro's network will expand to 393 kilometres, encompassing 288 stations, including the Noida-Greater Noida corridor and the Rapid Metro in Gurugram.

Starting from Sunday (17 September), Delhi Metro will be increasing the operational speed of trains on the Airport Express line.

The speed will be raised from 90 kilometres per hour, as it was in March, to 120 kilometres per hour. This change aims to improve efficiency and reduce travel time for passengers.

The journey between New Delhi and Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 is expected to take approximately 21 minutes.

Previously, the travel time between New Delhi and Dwarka Sector 21 was around 22 minutes.

With the increased speed on the Delhi Metro, this travel time will be reduced to approximately 19 minutes, providing a quicker and more convenient commuting option.

During the inauguration of Yashobhoomi, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to Lord Vishwakarma and launched the 'PM Vishwakarma scheme' at the India International Convention and Expo Centre in Dwarka.

Additionally, the Prime Minister had the opportunity to meet artisans and craftsmen from the footwear industry in Delhi.

The 'PM Vishwakarma' scheme will receive full funding of Rs 13,000 crore from the Union government, supporting the development and growth of this sector.
