In a major step towards the execution of the bullet train project, Mumbai Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) has issued letter of acceptance (LoA) to the consortium of Sojitz and L&T for executing electrical works.
The electrical works include the design, manufacture, supply, construction, installation, testing and commissioning of 2x25 kV electrification systems suitable for speeds up to 320 km/hour, involving Japanese Shinkansen system-based traction power supply.
The works also include traction substations, switching stations, overhead equipment, distribution systems, associated buildings, training institute equipment, etc, for the entire MAHSR corridor of around 508 kms, and three depots in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
India's first bullet train is poised to commence the run between the 50-km-long Surat and Bilimora stretch by 2026.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor project aims to run the train at maximum speed of 320 kmph, covering a distance of 508 km and stopping at 12 stations.
