A statement from Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Varanasi on 7 July to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various development projects worth over Rs 12,100 crore.
As per the PMO, one of the projects that the Prime Minister will inaugurate and dedicate to the nation, is the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction-Son Nagar railway line of the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
This new line, constructed at a cost of more than Rs 6,760 crore, will enable faster and more efficient movement of goods along the corridor.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will also dedicate three railway lines to the nation, which have undergone electrification or doubling, at a cost exceeding Rs 990 crore.
The railway lines include Ghazipur city-Aunrihar, Aunrihar-Jaunpur, and Bhatni-Aunrihar. These routes mark the completion of 100 per cent electrification of railway lines in Uttar Pradesh.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the four-lane widening of the Varanasi-Jaunpur section of NH-56. This project, completed at a cost of over Rs 2,750 crore, is expected to make travel between Varanasi and Lucknow easier and faster.
The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate a range of initiatives in Varanasi. These include the construction and renovation of 18 PWD roads, an International Girls Hostel building at BHU campus, and the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET)-Vocational Training Centre at village Karsara.
The development projects consist of the construction of three two-lane rail over bridges (ROB) near Chaukhandi, Kadipur, and Hardattapur railway stations, the construction of Vyasnagar-Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Junction rail flyover, and the construction and renovation of 15 PWD roads.
The estimated cost of these projects is around Rs 780 crore.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for 192 rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission. These schemes, with a budget exceeding Rs 550 crore, will ensure access to pure drinking water for 7 lakh people residing in 192 villages.
Furthermore, foundation stone for the redesigning and redevelopment of Manikarnika and Harishchandra Ghats, will also be laid by the Prime Minister.
The redevelopment plans include provisions for public conveniences, waiting areas, wood storage, waste disposal, and eco-friendly cremation pyres, enhancing the overall infrastructure and amenities available to visitors.
During the event, the Prime Minister will hand out loans from the PM-Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme and keys to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Rural houses. Additionally, Ayushman Bharat cards will be distributed to the beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh.
This distribution will mark the beginning of the Grih Pravesh for 500,000 PMAY beneficiaries, the distribution of 125,000 PM-SVANidhi loans to eligible beneficiaries, and the distribution of 288 million Ayushman cards.
