Rajasthan: Bikaner Station To Be Redeveloped At An Estimated Cost Of Rs 480 Crore

The Bikaner railway station is set to be redeveloped at an estimated cost of Rs 480 crore, aimed at making the station an iconic one, while ensuring preservation of the heritage status of the existing structure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the station in Rajasthan on 8 July.

The redevelopment work will involve renovation of all platforms, renovation of circulating area, spacious concourse with all passenger amenities for retail, cafeterias and recreational facilities.

The project also envisages adequate parking facilities for passengers.

According to the Indian Railways, the redevelopment project involves renovation of all platforms along with flooring and ceiling.

Prime Minister Modi would also be laying foundation stone of the 42.81-km-long Churu-Ratangarh doubling line project, to enhance connectivity of Hisar to Bikaner and Degana on Jodhpur-Phulera mainline.

The Churu-Ratangarh route lies on Hisar-Bikaner section which will enhance connectivity to the famous pilgrimage “Salasar Balaji”.

The doubling project estimated to cost Rs 422.60 crore will also facilitate ease of transportation of gypsum/lime stone from Bikaner region to rest of India and for transportation of food grains and fertiliser products.

With the completion target fixed at March 2025, the project would involve six stations including Churu, Depalsar, Juharpura, Sri Makrinath Nagar, Molisar and Ratangarh.
