Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed relevant officials to identify plots of land ranging from 500 to 1,000 acres situated between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) for the development of new industrial clusters.

The ORR is a 158-km-long eight-lane motorway with access control and has a total of 19 access points.

The ORR connects several areas: Narsing–Kokapet–Patancheru–Medchal–Shamirpet–Ghatkesar–Pedda Amberpet–Shamshabad–TSPA–Narsing–Nanakramguda–Gachibowli.

The ORR also connects with other significant national highways and state highways.

The proposed RRR is a 340 km, four-lane access-controlled expressway project around Hyderabad.

These land parcels must be situated within a distance of 50 to 100 kilometres from the international airport and national/state highways, according to a report by The Hindu.

The chief minister issued these directives during a meeting with senior officials on state industrial development held on Monday (18 December).

Emphasising that the lands earmarked for industrial development should be arid and non-cultivable to prevent losses to farmers and minimise pollution, the chief minister stressed the importance of locating them away from residential areas.

Acquiring such lands not only reduces costs but also garners support from farmers for the government's initiatives.

The chief minister urged officials to provide details regarding the extent of lands allocated for industrial setup and the portion that remains unused.

A comprehensive report on the lands designated for industrial development in various regions, the number of established industries, and their current status should be submitted.

The government prioritises decentralisation of industrial development and encourages the establishment of environmentally friendly units.

Simultaneously, officials are urged to propose alternatives to industrial clusters within the GHMC limits, specifically in Nacharam, Jeedimetla, and Katedan.

Revanth Reddy sought updates on the status of IDPL lands and asked for a detailed report on the matter

In addition, officials are instructed to study best practices in the Middle East and Europe for establishing bulk drug units. Efforts should be made to ensure that new industrial units prioritise the use of solar energy over conventional thermal power sources.
