The match which took place in Tahiland’s Chonburi, saw India take an early lead with Manisha scoring in the second minute. The attacks continued and the team put up a formidable 9-0 tally at half-time. The domination continued in the second-half where India scored nine more goals to notch the final tally of 18-0.
The standout performer for India was Renu, who netted five goals. Devneta, Daya Devi and Manisha scored twice.
Following the game, Pakistan’s coach Mohammad Siddique Sheikh described the 90 minutes as a learning experience for his team. Pakistan was suspended for about three and a half years by FIFA which rendered them unable to play much regular football.
India’s coach Alex Ambrose on the other hand was delighted with the Indian team’s performance, “ It was a great result for us. This kind of a win gives a lot of boost to our girls, and hopefully, we can go ahead and do better in the next game as well”.
As a result of the victory India began the qualifiers on a flying note.
