This statement comes a day after a Delhi Court announced its judgement on the two convicts of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots following the death of Ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
As reported by Zee, Badal also lauded the Narendra Modi-led NDA government and said, “All this has been possible due to affirmative and decisive action taken by the NDA government which formed a SIT in 2015 to take massacre cases to their logical conclusion.”
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Badal added that justice, finally, has been delivered after 34 years and said the Congress’ efforts to shield the riot’s perpetrators have been sabotaged by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the NDA government in 2015.
Furthermore, he said that the SIT should investigate Sonia Gandhi and she should face a lie detector test. The current Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also praised the court’s decision and termed it as "long overdue".
