Amid the rising cases of Coronavirus in Maharashtra, as many as 53 journalists including field reporters, photographers, and video journalists have tested positive for the Covid-19 in Mumbai, reports Livemint.

The development was made public by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday (20 April) after the authorities had collected and tested samples of as many as 171 journalists, of whom a total 53 turned out positive.

As per BMC, the 53 journalists have been placed under isolation. BMC also shared that most of them were asymptomatic cases. The samples had been collected for testing on Thursday and Friday last week.

Maharashtra has so far observed as many as 4,203 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 507 have been successfully cured, while 223 fatalities were reported so far. The State is the home to the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the nation.
