The inauguration of Delhi’s Signature Bridge turned ugly as a spat between Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari and AAP workers resulted in a high-drama at the national capital. The fight was due to sharing of credits for the construction of the bridge.

Delhi Police tried stopping Tiwari from making an entry to the venue from Bhajanpuri side. He represents North East Delhi constituency in the Lok Sabha. After reaching the venue, he was stopped once again, this time by the Rapid Action Force (RAF).

Tiwari is reportedly upset for not being invited for the inauguration of the bridge. Hindustan Times quoted him as saying, “I am the MP of the area. In fact, the work for the bridge was stuck for a decade and I intervened so that it would speed up. This is how you treat me for showing you in good light? I expected nothing in return, just some respect that you would give to an MP and a fellow human being.”

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has criticised the BJP for creating chaos at the inauguration ceremony and asked the Lieutenant Governor for his intervention in the issue. AAP is exploring all legal options. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia slammed the BJP for playing “politics of inauguration.”

BJP has said that AAP MLA from Okhla, Amanatullah Khan, allegedly pushed the BJP chief off the stage.
