Following the murder of AAP leader Naveen Das, the police have arrested his alleged gay partner Tayyab Qureshi, Hindustan Times has reported. On 5 October the body of Das was found charred to death in an SUV in Ghaziabad.
As per the report, Das was in a relationship with Qureshi and was trying to force the latter to stay with him by threatening to leak a video. After the body was recovered, Das’ family lodged an FIR following which the police arrested prime accused Qureshi and his accomplices Talib Qureshi, Samar Khan.
“During the investigation, we came to know that the victim and Tayyab were in a homosexual relationship and the victim allegedly had a video on the basis of which he was forcing the prime accused to stay with him in a rented flat. To get rid of the victim, Tayyab called him to Loni on the night of the incident. They mixed sleeping pills in a pack of ‘halwa’ they purchased and offered it to the victim”, said SSP Vaibhav Krishna.
The prime accused has been quoted as alleging that he used to organise gay parties at prominent hotels where the two met. Das later accused of filming them sleeping together and demanded that he move in with him.
