In a setback for the Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), its MLA from Chandni Chowk in Delhi, Alka Lamba on Tuesday (3 September) met with interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi leading to speculations about her changing camps, reports Indian Express.

Hailing Sonia as the champion of the cause of secularism, Lamba tweeted, "Sonia Gandhi is not only the Congress chief but also the UPA chairperson and a tall leader of secular ideology. Discussion with Sonia Gandhi on current affairs was long due. Today, got a chance to discuss all issues with her. In politics, such interactions have been going on and must continue."

Alka has for long been at odds with the AAP supremo Kejriwal and has already announced her resignation from the primary membership of the party. Earlier in August, Lamba had also announced that she will be contesting the upcoming elections for Delhi Assembly as an independent candidate.

The spat between Lamba and AAP had become a matter of public knowledge after she had been removed from the party's official WhatsApp group. This had come after she held Kejriwal accountable for the party's poor show at in the Lok Sabha elections in which AAP lost on all seven seats from Delhi, and stood third in five, trailing behind both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress party candidates.
