In another diplomatic success for India regarding the recent abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has issued an official release calling the matter “an internal issue of India”.

“Bangladesh maintains that the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian Government is an internal issue of India. Bangladesh has always advocated, as a matter of principle, that maintaining regional peace and stability, as well as development should be a priority for all countries,” reads the statement.

Bangladesh is only the latest country in the region to come out in support of the Indian position on the revocation of J&K’s special status. Previously, Maldives, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal expressed agreement with India’s stance that the Kashmir issue was part of its internal affairs.

On the other hand, Pakistan has been leaving no stone unturned in a bid to internationalise the issue, and its government officials and media persons have increasingly ramped up their propaganda offensive online.
