Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has been quoted by media reports as acknowledging that he is a fool but not such a big one, Times of India has reported.

After being quizzed over his justification of calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi Neech, Aiyar lost his cool and claimed that he won’t get involved in media’s games. He added that, Main ullu hun, lekin itna bada ullu nahin (I am a fool, but not that big a fool).

Aiyar also lost his cool during the media interaction and threatened to hit a journalist for questioning him over his infamous ‘neech’ remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Aiyar can also be heard using profane language during the incident.

The incident occurred at the Punjab government guest house in Shimla.

In an opinion piece which he wrote, Aiyar concluded with the following statement, “But then, why bother? Modi will, in any case, be ousted by the people of India on 23 May. That would be a fitting end to the most foul-mouthed prime minister this country has seen or is likely to see. Remember how I described him on 7 December 2017? Was I not prophetic?”.

To put things in context, Aiyar on 7 December 2017 had called Prime Minister Modi Neech, while campaigning during the Gujarat assembly polls.

The comment snowballed into a big issue, similar to another controversial comment by Aiyar prior to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls wherein he had mocked Prime Minister Modi’s humble beginnings as a tea seller.
