Officials of the Congress-led Madhya Pradesh government have found a new explanation for why the start has again started reeling under power cuts in recent months; they say that interruptions in electricity supply are actually because of bats, reports India Today.
Previously, the government of Chief Minister Kamal Nath had claimed that faulty equipment installed during the previous state government was the primary culprit behind power cuts.
Now, officials of the state’s power department, during a meeting with the Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Priyavrat Singh, have claimed that bats hang upside down on power lines, leading to the wires getting stuck with each other, thus causing power cuts.
The energy minister has now directed power department officials to ensure that bats are kept away from power lines.
The Kamal Nath government has come under immense criticism due to a return of power cuts in the state after the Congress party came to power. The situation is particularly bothersome for residents of the state due to soaring summer temperatures.
