One of the world’s most popular games Microsoft Solitare has been introduced into the Video Game Hall of Fame, MSPower User reports.

The game which has been bundled by Microsoft alongside the Windows operating system since 1990, was added to the hall of fame to celebrate its 29th anniversary.

The iconic game has been played by more than 500 million players and was installed on every Windows personal computer (PC) sold since Windows 3.0 in 1990.

Studio Manager of Microsoft Casual Games, Paul Jensen said, “Microsoft Solitaire being inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame makes this a historic day.”

The game was introduced by Microsoft to teach users to operate a mouse and ended up as one of the most played video games in the world. Jensen adds that the company is “humbly honoured” to work on the game which has a broad appeal.

The game has been localised in 65 languages and played in more than 200 markets around the globe including Antarctica.
