After the huge success of the recently concluded Kumbh mela in Prayagraj, the state government of Uttarakhand has initiated its preparations for holding a successful Maha Kumbh Mela in the year 2021 in the holy city of Haridwar.
To prepare the city for hosting the 2021 Maha Kumbh Mela, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister (CM) Trivendra Singh Rawat on Saturday (15 June) called on the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and asked for a one-time grant of Rs 5,000 crore, reports Financial Express.
Rawat underscored that in the view of the state's limited resources, a one-time grant should be sanctioned to boost the creation of infrastructural and other facilities for Maha Kumbh by the stipulated time frame of 2020.
Sitharaman has assured Rawat of all possible help for successfully organising the big event which is expected to witness a congregation of over 15 crore devotees in Haridwar.
Earlier this year from January-March 2019, Kumbh Mela was organised in the Prayagraj city of Uttar Pradesh.
