Airtel Digital TV has slashed prices of their high definition (HD) set-top boxes (STB) by Rs 500, and also have other benefits which enable customers to save up to Rs 1,000 on new connections, the Telecom Talk reports.
Prices for Bharti Airtel’s Direct to home (DTH) service connection with an HD STB now cost Rs 1,453 instead of the earlier Rs 1,953. Customers willing to migrate would need to go to Airtel Digital TV’s website, and fill an application to choose their subscription plan.
The subscriber will have to select their channel plans, but since there is a Rs 1,000 benefit, the option for HD STB would be auto-selected. Consumers then need to select their channel pack. There is a default channel pack available for subscribers to select, which has 150 pre-selected channels amounting Rs 452 per month.
Subscribers also do have an option to lower the price of monthly subscription by opting different channel pack. The total amount they would need to pay for a new connection would then be Rs 769.
It needs to be noted that this price does not include Network Capacity Fee (NCF), installation and activation fee, and the sale price of the HD STB is Rs 1,490.
For existing subscribers wanting to upgrade to the HD STB, they would need to pay Rs 699 along with Rs 150 for engineer visit charges. An upgrade to internet TV box would mean subscribers pay Rs 1,999 plus engineer visit charge of Rs 250.
