Airtel Digital TV the leading DTH operator of India is all set to launch an XStream Stick for its customers to view Over The Top (OTT) content like Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services, Dream DTH has reported.
In a buildup to the official launch of the Chromecast and Amazon Fire like stick, Airtel has launched a new plan titled Airtel Stick Bundle. As per rumours, this stick would be powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core CPU, 1 GB RAM and an 8 GB storage. Airtel also renamed its Airtel TV app to XStream app.
Now in another report, Dream DTH has claimed that this XStream app is being integrated with the stick and a dedicated customer care portal has also been launched. This app will allow the users to pair the stick with their mobile phone. It will also come with a chromecast support.
Like other smart sticks, XStream would also be connected to the TV via a HDMI port and will be based on the android operating system. This XStream service would reportedly also be bundled in DTH, Broadband and Postpaid plans and existing customers need not purchase any new service.
Airtel is expected to provide subscriptions to streaming services like Eros Now, HOOQ, Hoichoi, ALTBalaji and Hungama under its plan.
