It has also launch a set-top-box along with this service. This set-top-box is expected to come with an in-built chromecast and is considered a direct competitor to Reliance Jio’s hybrid set-top-box which is expected to offer OTT content like Netflix, Hotstar and more along with internet services.
Jio would also provide access to its OTT services like Jio TV, Jio Cinema and Jio Saavan. It is also expected to provide other services like gaming, video calling and virtual reality via the STB. It is expected to launch on 5 September.
Airtel’s XStream set-top-box in response would be capable of streaming DTH, OTT and IPTV content. Powered by a dual-core processor and 2 GB RAM, the STB would run on Android Pie. It also comes with an upgraded UI which hopes to provide a superior lag-free experience for the subscribers.
It can also be used as a gamepad and supports 4K. It comes with a smart voice support remote.
