Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav told BBC Hindi today (9 March) that he would join hands with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati if the election results threw up a hung assembly.
In case no party wins a majority in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh said, “We don’t want the BJP to run Uttar Pradesh with a remote control.”
Does this remark imply an admission of defeat from the Chief Minister? Or at least, a fear that things may not be as bright as he thought they would be?
The final answers, of course, are waiting for us on 11 March.
