All the 77 ministers in Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s Union Council of Ministers have been divided into eight groups to enhance the functioning of the central government.

The responsibility of coordinating every group will be given to a senior minister. Moreover, two new ministers and some old ministers along with a few state ministers will also be a part of each group.

The aforementioned steps have been taken following the instructions of PM Narendra Modi in order to fast-track the functioning of the ministries. PM Modi reviewed the work of the ministries in a recent series of meetings with the union council of ministers.

He referred to the tiffin meetings that were held between ministers in Gujarat during his terms as the Chief Minister (CM) of the state.

The union ministers were directed to function on similar lines and thus meet and work accordingly.

This new mechanism is being developed in order to also ensure that the new ministers get a knack and understanding of the working of their ministry.

The centre is also considering building a system through which ministries get information about the working of each other so that it fastens the completion of projects jointly carried out by different departments, ANI reports.
