Powering ahead with the landmark Central Vista redevelopment project, the Government has kicked off the second leg of the project with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) inviting the bids from the contracts for the redevelopment of the Central Vista Avenue or Rajpath at an estimated cost of Rs 463 crore, reports The Hindu.
This leg of the ambitious project would involve demolition of some existing structures and the construction of underpasses and also a “Presidential dais”. It would include large scale stonework, construction of underpasses, underground amenities blocks, stone furniture, horticulture work, electric substations, pumping rooms et cetera.
Given the highly sensitive view of the security situation of the site and work, the notice inviting tender (NIT) has mentioned that stringent access control measures will have to be exercised for entry and exit of manpower, material and construction equipment in the area.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that the site for the project would would be made available in a phased manner given the Central Vista Avenue is visited by thousands of visitors and the Governments has decided to keep some part of the site either in the pre-development stage of in post-development stage available to the public.
