The anti-Bharatiya Janata Party bloc of the opposition parties, in a move to emphasise its unity and mark its presence, will hold talks in New Delhi in the last week of February, discussing the strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Senior leaders of the opposition have indicated that Rahul Gandhi, Chandrababu Naidu, Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, Sharad Yadav and representatives of Samajwadi party and Bahujan Samaj party are likely to attend the meeting, reports Hindustan Times.

Earlier, on 13 February, a meeting was organised between leaders of major opposition political parties in Delhi. During the meeting, it was decided to formulate a common strategy to fight the BJP in the upcoming general elections for the Lok Sabha.

“A grand alliance ahead of the polls is not an idea we would like to pursue. We are keeping in touch with each other and meeting regularly to keep the possibilities of a post-poll alliance alive,” a senior opposition leader was quoted in the HT report as saying.

As per the report, another opposition leader said that earlier, the plan was to meet in Guwahati but the venue was shifted due to the fast-changing political scenario in Delhi.

The responsibility of organising the event in Delhi has reportedly been given to a group of Congress and Telugu Desam Party leaders.
