Indian Railways is set to begin the operations of the second state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Express train set which will begin to ply between Delhi and Katra from 3 October when Union Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the train, reports Livemint.

The announcement about the commencement of the much-awaited train operations was made by Union Minister for Railways, Piyush Goyal on Friday (27 September). It should be noted that the train's operations will begin on Sharadoya Navaratri, an auspicious day in the Hindu faith.

Vande Bharat Express will cut down the present travel time between Delhi and Katra by over four hours, from the present 12 hours to just eight.

This would also help cater to the heavy traffic volume on the route because of the Vaishno Devi temple pilgrimage. It should also be noted that the second Vande Bharat Express comes with a set of modifications over the first one, with more comfortable seats and a larger pantry.

The train will have only three stops at Ambala, Ludhiana and Jammu, and will depart from Delhi at 6 am to complete the journey by 2 pm. On the return journey, the train would depart from Katra at 3 pm and reach Delhi by 11 pm.
