In a boost to India-Indonesia economic ties, an Indonesian delegation from the Aceh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) to promote bilateral trade links at Port Blair on Thursday (29 November), The New Indian Express has reported.
The MoU will create a platform for Indian and Indonesian businessmen to discuss opportunities in trade, investment technology transfer, services and other economic fields. Aceh is an Indonesian province located at close proximity to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The MoU capitalises on natural possibilities for India to trade with Indonesia via the Andamans.
The MoU was finalised at the Indonesia-India Seminar and Business Forum which was organised by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with KADIN and ACCI. The Indonesian delegation consisted of several government officials, as well as 30 business leaders and was led by Indonesian Ambassador to India Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro. The chief guest at the meet was Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration Chetan B Sanghi.
