Andhra Pradesh (AP)'s Chief Minister (CM) YS Jagan Mohan Reddy hinted on Tuesday (17 December) that the State could have three capitals soon, given his Government was mulling decentralisation, reports Economic Times.

CM Reddy, partaking in a discussion in the State's Assembly said that the existing capital city of Amaravati could serve as the legislative capital, while the port city of Visakhapatnam could serve as the executive capital and the city of Kurnool as the judicial capital of the State.

CM Reddy, asserted that three capitals for the State was a necessity, and that a final call on the matter would be taken after an expert committee's report on the subject is submitted to the State Government in a few days.

CM Reddy also wondered where would the Rs one lakh crore capital requirement come from which is needed for the construction of Amaravati as a full-fledged capital city.
