In an amusing development, an Andhra Pradesh MLA of YSR Congress Party has built a temple for party chief and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. MLA B Madhusudhan Reddy of the YSRCP has built the temple in Chitttor district's Srikalahasti and has dedicated it to CM Reddy, reports India Today.

Reddy stated that the idea behind the construction of the temple was to "showcase the welfare schemes" of the government.

"YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has outperformed several chief ministers in the country and his Navratnalu schemes have impacted the lives of over 5.65 crore beneficiaries across the state. As a staunch follower of the chief minister, my effort is to showcase his welfare measures," Madhusudhan Reddy added

The temple, named ‘Navartnalu Alayam’, was reportedly built at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore. It has been constructed by artists of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The temple houses images of Jagan Mohan Reddy that have been embedded in gold and silver structures. The temple has nine pillars, each depicting the welfare schemes introduced by CM Jagan Mohan.

The MLA took to Twitter and shared some photos of the temple.

He also stated that pamphlets would be distributed on the temple premises to highlight the Andhra Pradesh government's developmental works in the name of 'prasadam'.

There have been mixed responses to the said move by the MLA. While many have praised the MLA for the decision, others have stated that it's an example of sycophancy and waste of tax payer's money.
