World Bank and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has published the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ rankings. Andhra Pradesh has topped the ranking, while Telangana came second, followed by Haryana at third.
With a cumulative score of 98.42 per cent, slightly higher than 98.33 per cent of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh emerged as the winner.
Other states in the top ten ranks are Jharkhand, Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan and West Bengal respectively.
Major states which have achieved aggregate scores less than 60 per cent include Goa, Punjab, Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir.
In the ‘Reform Evidence Scorecard’ Jharkhand and Telangana have achieved 100 per cent score. However, in ‘Feedback Scorecard’ Andhra Pradesh outperformed Telangana with a score of 86.50 per cent. Telangana scored 83.95 per cent.
'Ease of Doing Business Ranking' among the states was introduced by the present government to promote competitive federalism.
