The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Mumbai police officer Sunil Mane in relation to the Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren death case. Mane was apparently under the radar of the central agency right from 13th March onward, which is the day when tainted cop Sachin Waze was first detained.

Mane was initially called up for interrogation and then placed under arrest on late Thursday night. He will be presented in front of a special NIA court for remand on Friday. The agency believes that Mane was involved in Hiran’s murder, whose body was found dumped in a creek at Reti Bandar close to Mumbra on 5th March.

Sources quoted in a report by the Hindustan Times mentions that Mane along with one other police official was present at the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) on 3rd March when the entire plan to murder Hiran was drawn out.

Actually, Mane was in-charge of Unit 11 of the crime branch of Mumbai police in Kandivali. Coincidentally, an individual had called Hiran on 4th March and identified himself as a crime branch officer named Tawde from Kandivali.

He had called Hiran out for a meeting along the Ghodbunder road and the trader’s body was next discovered dead in the aforementioned creek the very following day. This has put Sunil Mane under a cloud of intense suspicion, thus leading to his recent arrest by the NIA.
