Apple is reportedly planning to replace the current notch design introduced with iPhone X with a new-to-iPhone “punch-hole display design”.
The "punch-hole" display, which Samsung and now many others use for their flagship and other devices, is said to be replacing the notch-display design of iPhones starting 2022.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, all iPhones in the 2022 (or iPhone 14) lineup could adopt this punch-hole display design if product yields allow. However, in another scenario, Kuo said that at least the Pro iPhones will see the notch removed in 2022.
Apple is also expected to upgrade the front-facing camera’s autofocus capabilities in the iPhone 14 series of models, reports MacRumors.
Meanwhile, the Cupertino-based tech giant is also planning to release a new iPhone SE model in the first half of next year. The 2022 model iPhone SE will be the first entry-priced model to feature 5G, the next-generation cellular standard that debuted on iPhone-lineup with the iPhone 12 series last year.
