Apple, the Cupertino-based tech giant has won patent to use foldable screens on its devices. The patent applied in 2018 January is among of series of patents the company has applied to the US Patent and Trademark Office. The company is expected to release the device by 2021.

The Patent describes an electronic device with a display and cover that are flexible or bendable. Apple with the patent can use the screen on its iPhones, iPads and other devices. The company has applied for a similar patent in the past, a flexible display with touch sensors and portions that open and close like a book. Another which will be flexible and can be folded into half and grip a person’s clothes, reports Economic Times.

With Samsung and Huawei, two of the top phone manufacturing companies having already released devices that can fold and unfold into a bigger screen, the phones priced around $2000 have failed to capture the market while also having customers complaining about the build quality and damages while using the phone.
