Apple's flagship iPhone 12 Pro Max which is set to be launched in October is likely to sport LiDAR tech along with a 120 Hz refresh rate ProMotion display.

According to tipster Jon Prosser, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will have an apparent slimmed-down notch, narrow bezels, a display with a 120Hz refresh rate, LiDAR-assisted autofocus in its cameras, and support for recording 240 frame per second (fps) video at 4K resolution, reports The Next Web.

The leaked screenshots are allegedly from an iPhone 12 Pro Max PVT (production validation prototype) which is a manufactured device that comes off the assembly line after the first run of mass production at full speed, GSM Arena reported.

The LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging. It’s basically the means by which lasers are used to figure out distances and depths. The feature could prove useful to build AR models and enable 3D sensing on the new iPhone models.

The tipster said that bezels on the iPhone Pro Max are smaller while the display is a tad larger — making the notch “appear” a little smaller.

Prosser also claimed that the iPhone 12 Pro will have a notch that will stay the same size and that bezels are “noticeably thinner”. He also said that that Face ID in the new iPhone works from a wider angle, the phone’s sides are flat while the glass has a slight curve, and that the camera setup around back is 10 per cent larger.

It should be noted that Apple is likely to launch four new iPhones under the iPhone 12 series which would include two premium variants - iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The other two variants will be iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max.

All four iPhone models are expected to feature OLED displays and 5G support.
