Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday (14 December) asked authorities to restore road links and electricity and water supply in areas affected by two days of snowfall.
He asked the Deputy Commissioners to issue an advisory to the tourists and the public to avoid trekking to higher reaches and also for carefully plying their vehicles on snow covered roads.
Chairing a meeting in Dharamsala, Thakur directed the officers to ensure that all essential services in the state affected by snowfall are restored on priority.
Thakur asked the Public Works Department (PWD) to ensure that all the major roads are reopened immediately. He said that preference must be given to clear those roads which lead to essential services, such as hospitals, so that the patients don't not face any hardship.
The Chief Minister also issued directions regarding restoration of power and water supply.
Chief Secretary Shrikant Baldi assured the Chief Minister that best possible efforts would be made to ensure restoration of essentials services.
