In a bid to fulfill his poll promise made to the citizens of East Delhi parliamentary constituency, the former ace cricketer and incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Gautam Gambhir on Thursday (3 September) inaugurated a ballistic separator under a pilot project to reduce the height of Asia’s largest landfill site at Ghazipur, reports Asian News International (ANI).

As per details shared by Gambhir, the pilot project initiated at the Ghazipur landfill will be operated on older garbage, while for the fresh garbage will be handled by methods of segregation and solid waste management.

The project engineer Arun Kumar further shared that the ballistic separator inaugurated by Gambhir yesterday shall segregate the entire waste into four separate categories like pebbles, glass, plastic and two different types of soils, which would help in further handing of each type of waste separately.

Meanwhile, assuring the people of East Delhi constituency of determined action to bring down the ginormous landfill, Gambhir said, "It is Asia's biggest landfill. It will take time to get reduced. Hopefully, it can be a success. We will then make bigger plants."
