Killing proprietary standards - may a million chargers bloom!
In a statement, the company said, "At Ather, We’ve always believed the future of mobility to be fast charging Which is why we’re opening our proprietary fast charging connector for other OEMS to use".
Currently, Indian electric 2-wheeler makers including Hero Electric, Bajan Auto, Ather and TVS Motors all use different charging pins as there is no common standard for electric chargers in the country. Thus, a charger of one make cannot be used to charge a vehicle of another company.
However, if the EV makers take up Ather's offer, their consumers can also charge their e-scooters at the Bengaluru based company's over 170 public chargers across India.
