Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi and ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar on Sunday (4 October) met the family of the 22-year-old woman who was allegedly gangraped and killed by two men in Balrampur, reports Indian Express.
According to the report, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed the two civil servants to interact with the kin of the victim.
Awasthi assured the that a fast track court hearing will be sought in the case. Additionally, even the National Security Act (NSA) will be invoked if required.
“The family has requested that the accused get strict punishment. We have declared that we will take permission for a fast track court hearing and invoke NSA against the accused if needed,” Awasthi was quoted as saying.
He added, “The family has requested that we should again question the accused to find out if more people are involved. We have directed police to investigate it. We will take strict action against the accused. We will leave no stone unturned in the follow-up and prosecution of the case.”
The family has alleged that a 23-year-old man named Shahid along with his nephew Sahil kidnapped the woman after she left for her job at 7 am on 29 September, and sexually assaulted her at their general store. Furthermore, she was treated by an unqualified man named Mohammad Sageer before being sent home. Rafeeq, known as Gutte, was the rickshaw puller who took the lady to her home.
Sageer and Rafeeq were also arrested on Saturday. They have been accused of the alleged conspiracy and for not informing the police about the incident. Meanwhile, medical test of the woman has confirmed sexual assault.
